Happy Anniversary!

No Grand Canyon? It's a heck of a lot better than Phoenix and Scottsdale. You could stay at Little America in Flagstaff. Flagstaff is a neat little town (not that little anymore I guess).

Any tips for sights on road trip

I think you're talking about the botanical garden near the zoo, just north of Tempe, near "hole in the rock". When I was in high school we took a field trip there. I wasn't into cactus much, having grown up in AZ, but as I recall it was pretty nice. The Phoenix zoo is a good zoo, too. Our next door neighbor used to be the zoo veterinarian there.

Jerome is known as a ghost town but it's mostly a tourist trap these days. Still, that can be fun.

In Sedona be sure to wear your tinfoil hats!

Keep your doggie cool - temps will probably be in the hundreds while you're there and it bears mentioning that the temp in a parked car can toast a dog in short order.

Most importantly - have a good time! Family is what it's all about.
